** - Have a choice of skins for the app as a whole - particularly when using non-web desktop version. Evernote's current default WHITE screen prevents me from being able to use this program as I would like.Ġ- Create a 'composition mode' default setting which includes the following:ġ- Choose a default 'composition mode' background color from the color picker.Ģ- Choose a default 'composition mode' text color from the color picker.ģ- Designate a 'composition mode' font choice that does not affect fonts of clipped articles or documents.Ĥ- Designate a 'composition mode' font size (that is different from default print size) for view and compose actions.Ĥb- And/OR designate a screen view that allows a percentage magnification of active notes. HOWEVER, I cannot use a program with a white background for any sustained period of time (migraine triggers). I want to maximize my Evernote usage by creating folders of drafts and notes to aid in composing my novels (in addition to multiple research clippings). I use Evernote PREMIUM on Mac desktop, Firefox browser, iPad, & iPhone. I am a writer - fiction / non-fiction / blog. Thank you so much Evernote, I don't know how I lived without all this Running snippets or even ansible scripts to setup whole system Search files or in files, or in directory, or in search results - Regex, match case, file mask, group results. Registered at CloudHQ and set up a sync to Google Drive ĭownloaded the files and made an Intellij IDEA project out of them.Ĭreated a free private Git repository at Ībility to open notes in text editor, e.g. TXT formats using the "Save" bubble.I've given up about 4 months ago and switched to an IDE project in Git repository. So, yes, you can tweak Dana II and your documents to some degree, but it's best to write elsewhere should you need to apply major formatting like bullet points, hyperlinks, and footers. You can use them to change the font, text size, visual theme, background music, keyboard sound effects, and initiate the "Save As" options. Once you're satisfied with the text box size, you begin writing as you would in any other app, but without the options of headers, footers, and other features you'd associate with word processing apps.Ī column of vertically aligned option bubbles resides to the right of the text area. The writing area is small by default, but you can expand the space by dragging Dana II's borders. It surpasses FocusWriter in this regard, an app with a far less elegant interface. That work-ready feeling was bolstered by the incredibly clean interface and soft, ambient background music that also created a calming environment. The blackout really helps keep you focused on the task at hand. This is a feature that FocusWriter lacks, which is unfortunate. Dana II has another neat trick: it automatically blacks out the second display in dual monitor setups. That alone motivated me to focus on the writing task at hand, as I couldn't peek at an email client or other possible attention-grabbing apps. You can't reduce its size to dabble in other things. OmmWriter Dana II achieves its distraction-free goal in part by operating exclusively in full-screen mode-either you're in the app or out of the app. Dana II lacks many features found in Microsoft Word ($149.00 at Amazon) (Opens in a new window), Apple iWork's Pages, or the rival FocusWriter, but its streamlined interface and simplicity make it a worthy download for those who need to put their thoughts onto the digital page without all of the extra (and potentially distracting) bells and whistles. The distraction-free tool (also available on Windows PCs) creates a calm, peace-filled writing environment using audio-visual techniques. That's where an app like the $4.11 OmmWriter Dana II proves useful. On the other hand, that same freedom can be a tremendous distraction when it's time to get some writing done.
